Serenade from The Student Prince

Taken from the 2010 St. Charles Community College Show ChoirPlease be aware I do go very flat at the end. I was too out of breath to sing this song properly. :(The Student Prince (1924)Sigmund Romberg (1887--1951)Libretto by Dorothy Donnelly (1880--1928)The operetta opens in the palace of the mythical kingdom of Karlsberg. It is 1860. Prince Karl Franz, heir to the throne, is bored with royal life in his native land. With his tutor, Doctor Engel, he plans a visit to the old German University town of Heidelberg. When they arrive in Heidelberg it is spring, and the world is in bloom. The Prince, now incognito, joins his new comrades in a student's song, after which they parade to the "Golden Apple Inn". There the students raise their Steins of beer in a robust toast to drink and romance, calling for Kathie, the lovely young daughter of the innkeeper. Before long, Kathie and the Prince are strongly attracted to each other. In the ensuing weeks their friendship ripens into love; one beautiful evening the Prince is inspired to sing a serenade under her window.

Thank you very much! Going back and listening to myself sing this has really helped in the past year.

very nice voice; always BREATHE! Better to break up a phrase or even a word rather than to go flat. TAKE your breath. Congrats
