Wouldn't GMO's provide better yeilding and more robust plants. The only threat in my opinion is the threat of disease. It's rather like small farmer's opposition to the enclosure movement in the agricultural revolution. The agricultural revolution led to industrialization and the modern world we have today. They seem overly-zealous and say that "chemicals are bad" or that you shouldn't play god. They won't feed people corn that is experimental. They want to see if there are health issues.
