That's the problem with working so stiff. The bones in the hand are smaller than the bones in the head, so the hand is more likely to break than the head.

He snapped it with a Spinning Backfist. That also accounts for one of the big spots later on that the match is pretty much famous for.

Looks like Kawada breaks his arm at the 2:07 point and then starts favoring it the rest of the match
