The sixth and final song from Ludwig Spohr's Sechs Deutsche Lieder, "Awakening," performed by Anaphora members Guinevere Tiffin, soprano; Cory Tiffin, clarinet; Matthew Ganong, piano. This piece was presented as part of an Anaphora concert at the Liz Stein Company, 410 S Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL on April 16, 2009.Translation:Why do you stay fearfully and think?Oh forever long is love awake!Don't you hear it sounding over everything?the birds sing with a sweet sound;from the tree the buds spring forth,life flies from branch to twig.The dew drops through the shafts of light in the forest,the brook skips along the embankmentthe heavens draw to the surgethe blue sky at the dawn is wonderful,a cheerful surge, of form and sound,an eternal yielding in an eternal breaking forth!Why do you stay fearfully and think?Oh forever long is love awake!Don't you hear it sounding over everything?Oh forever long is love awake!
