Requiem for Gross Street

The removal of 75 trees on Gross Street was needed to make way for the long-awaited Gross Street Improvement project. Sadly, many neighbors did not learn they would lose the trees until the day before cutting began. This video is my way of giving the trees one last honorable farewell, and it is my promise to my neighbors that if elected to serve as your councilman I will be mindful of the lessons learned on Gross Street about city government communicating with citizens to address our neighborhood concerns. The music accompanying the video is by Glasgow fingerstyle guitar player, Bill Adair, who recorded the tune live at Java Rave on Tuesday September 4.

I was very upset when they did this to gross street. I couldn't believe it was it really necessary, they couldn't have done it without doing that. I can recall as child riding my bike down gross with such wonder and admiring the beauty of the trees.

I grew up on Gross Street. I almost cried when I saw what the city had done.
