UKS Unity Tournament 2008 - Tiffin Dragons Martial Arts

UKS 'Unity' Tournament.Dr. Moore performs a nun chuck/tonfa kata to demonstrate his unique weapons abilities at the 30th anniversary of this tournament.

Nate is seen here in his second competition, he has been practicing hard with his chucks and despite my ribbing did very well. Due to general lack of interest in weapons kata he was placed with higher belts, which led to him not placing in the competition. A special note, though I do not have the videos of the others Nate could have easily made 2nd or 3rd place, but that gets into the politics of this tournament.

Cory performed his kata well, there are many different variations of Shotokan (including UKS), but his kata was overall a good showing for his rank. He did not place, but did do quite well for competing in the adult category for the first year.

The three people shown here, as well as the other three we took to this competition did well, and I should think that if judging was more diversified, better informed, and more open minded not only would some people have more deserving ranks but the entire tournament would be a better experience for all.

Thank you, I did however forget the proof-reading process. Resulting in slang-credits and Nate being called 'nikkyu', so I guess he needs a brown belt now.
