@1RealityBroadcasting Good question. One of the principles of knives when it comes to self defense is to not throw away one's knife.  In effect, one is giving the opponent a weapon (and convincing the opponent that you want to kill him/her, so he/she will be motivated to kill the knife thrower). Don't throw knives in combat, despite what video games and movies teach. An exception can be made if one is a very good knife thrower and has many knives to throw and fight with.
