Judo was developed by Kano Jigoro from Tenjin Shin'yō-ryū
and Kitō-ryū two japanese jujutsu schools. Mr Maeda who taught he Gracie's learned Judo at the turn of the 19:th century and the Gracie family developed their system from his personal teaching and called it Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

Judo is a sport, trowing tecniques from original japanese Jiu-Jitsu. Grand Master's Helio Gracie and Carlos Gracie Jiu-jitsu it is not a sport. It is for real life self-defense. It is a shame that now days most of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu schools are teaching the so called "sportive Jiu-Jitsu".
