Yes, BrownEyed, you are absolutely right, Michelle had been suffering from that stress fracture through the Fall of 1997, so it is remarkable that she was able to come to Nationals in so short a time and skate so well. I still think that if she had not had to skate first in Nagano for her LP, she could have come home with the gold.

She was just recovering from a stress fracture on her left foot, which is the take off foot for the 3T, which caused her pain. She substituted the 3F instead because she had to limit practicing/using the 3T. By the time of the Olympics she became more comfortable and added it back to the program.

Why did she do a 3F in US Nationals but a 3T in Oly?
