hooray for opinions.... i respectfully disagree. tkd is still not versatile because it does not involve ground fighting, or throws, or grappling of any kind. and it does not take advantage of human anatomy, it does not take advantage of joint weaknesses and gravity. all it does is use strength and speed, though it is not the strongest kind of martial art or the fastest. though you are probably right, i think i was in wtf

You must have been doing WTF. WTF is sport, ITF is the actual art. Look up some videos, they use punching as MUCH as kicking. Look up Tomaz Barada. You, like many other people, are ignorant to Taekwondo. Because all they see is that showy crap. And that sport crap, because it's usually entertaining, the showy crap anyway, but it's NOT THE REAL ART. Taekwondo can be a versatile art, ANY art can be, versatile comes from a combination of styles TO MAKE A SYSTEM. Check out Kudo.

Exactly, bother fighters we mismatched, and both fighters had poor skill, the MMA guy, had absolutely NO ground game on someone else that had NO ground game. Other than slamming him, he should have at least be able to do a simple kimura, but he couldn't. If the weight classes had been even this probably would have just been some MMA noob trying to practice his heel hooks or something on some TKD noob, and would be boring as hell.

i know that it involves both punching and kicking, but punching is useless to score points in a tournament, so kicking is emphasized. and every bit of self defense i was taught was very limited in its use. honestly, its nothing more than a game for tournaments. other martial arts are so much better and more versatile. tkd is for tourneys, nothing more.
