But coming from a noxious limey trying to define the language, of course it's easy to understand why you charge us with a bastardization. By the way, it was YOUR Sir Humphrey Davy (discoverer of the base metal from which aluminum was drawn) who coined the word "aluminum" before some limey nutjob objected and the word "aluminum" was bastardized into "aluminium."
