XP, I got my reed for 14 bucks, but it probably depends. I'm only a beginner on bassoon, but I love it.Great job! I uber love the sound of the bassoon!

You use a double reed. I use a plastic reed that is pretty expensive depending on where you go. My teacher gave me reeds. I've heard they are $25. It's a hard instrument. I went from clarinet to bassoon and it's hard to reed bass clef when you are used to treble cleff. But it's a great instrument. Totally recommend it for those who like a challenge.
