Could not agree more; and you put it well. He is incredibly under-rated. I prefer him to the many-notes players like, O Sacrilege, Art Tatum and Osacr Peterson.Itzik Basman

The amazing part is that the seemingly random notes that Monk puts in, if you sped them up it would be a normal jazz line. He is such a genius and completely went out of the box. Scratch that, he destroyed it. Many old jazz players don't consider his style, be-bop jazz, but we all know that his jazz is jazz in it's purest form..improvisation.
