Kiokoshinkai is hard and tough - you could see that in training, tournaments and kata. Shotokan is not SOFT, it has a balance between strong technique and a variaty of kata different moves: from sharp and strong to slow and beautiful - that makes the kata very specific and recognisable from other styles of karate. Strong kumite and remarcable kata - this is Shotokan Karate.

The "Hean Go Dan" performance was full of shit - elbows are low, the critical move - the jump was as poor as it can get... I don't know aboud the rest...
